Memorandum between National Center of Manuscripts of Georgia and Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts of Armenia Matenadaran

On November 6, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Center of Manuscripts of Georgia and Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts of Armenia and Mesrop Mashtots. Following the signing of the memorandum, two directors and members of the delegation met in the meeting room of the Director of Matenadaran. Negotiations have been underway for many years for Georgian specialists to study the Georgian manuscripts in Matenadaran and prepare a catalogue. This year an agreement was reached. Matenadaran handed digital copies of Georgian materials in the funds to the National Center of Manuscripts within the memorandum and expressed readiness to supply the remaining materials. Following the completion of the descriptions on the initiative of the Matenadaran leadership, a presentation of the publications and an exhibition of Georgian manuscripts and documents were planned. The event was addressed by the heads of both institutions: Zaza Abashidze, Director of the National Center of Manuscripts and Vahan Ter-Ghevondiani, Director of Matenadaran. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia Giorgi Saganelidze and the Embassy staff, National Center of Manuscripts and the National Library of Georgia, who visited the exhibition halls and new Matenadaran repositories at the end of the reception.
